Peer Review Policy
Follow how we assess your manuscript, arrange independent review where applicable and communicate your next step.

At a glance
- Check which assessment your manuscript has completed.
- Do not treat provisional acceptance as guaranteed publication.
- Respond to your specific feedback and deadline.
Editorial Policy
We assess your submission against the selected journal’s themes, scholarly relevance, originality, clarity and contribution. We check completeness and presentation before deciding whether your work can proceed. We may return work that needs preparation or decline work outside the journal’s scope.
We distinguish initial screening from independent peer review. Do not treat provisional acceptance or a tracker status as confirmation that independent review is complete. We use peer review to assess arguments, methods, evidence and contribution.
What Double-Blind Review Means
We withhold your identity from reviewers and their identities from you during double-blind review. We retain the information we need to manage your submission.
- Put names, affiliations and contact details in your separate title page. Remove identifying acknowledgements and unnecessary personal document properties from your review manuscript.
- Cite your earlier work accurately without unnecessarily identifying yourself.
- Keep review correspondence confidential. Understand that a subject specialist may sometimes infer authorship despite these safeguards.
The Review Process
We communicate review arrangements and the editorial outcome for manuscripts we select for independent assessment.
- Submit your manuscript
Select the appropriate domain and current journal issue. Upload the required files and declarations.
- We screen your submission
We check scope, completeness, presentation and suitability for further assessment.
- We arrange independent review
Where we select your work for peer review, we seek suitable expertise and assess conflicts before sharing anonymised material.
- Reviewers assess your work
If you review for us, explain the strengths, limitations and improvements you identify with specific evidence.
- We evaluate the reports
We consider the reports alongside the manuscript, journal scope and any integrity concerns.
- We communicate our decision
Read your decision and any required changes in the correspondence and tracker.
- You revise where requested
Respond to each comment and explain your changes or give reasons where you disagree.
- We confirm the outcome
We decide whether your work can proceed, needs further assessment or should be declined.
- You complete publication requirements
Complete the applicable copyright, payment, correction and production requirements before we release your paper.
Editorial Decisions
We consider your originality, relevance, reasoning, evidence, methods, clarity, citations and ethical compliance. We use reviewer recommendations to inform our judgment.
- Accept: complete any remaining publication requirements.
- Minor revision: make the focused corrections or clarifications we request.
- Major revision: address substantial changes and submit your work for reassessment.
- Reject: read our explanation of the scope, quality or unresolved concerns that prevent publication.
Author Obligations
- Submit original work that you have not submitted elsewhere for concurrent consideration. Identify your contributors and disclose funding, interests and applicable ethical approvals.
- Coordinate with every co-author if you are the corresponding author. Review our correspondence and keep your contact details accurate.
- Respond within your manuscript’s stated deadline. Ask for clarification or an extension promptly if you need one.
Integrity & Misconduct
Tell us about suspected plagiarism, unreliable findings, duplicate publication, citation manipulation or authorship and conflict concerns. Provide specific evidence.
We may pause assessment, request source material and invite a response. We assess the evidence before deciding on further review, correction, rejection or an appropriate publication notice. We do not treat an allegation as a confirmed finding.
